Vascular & Spider Vein Laser Course in Coquitlam, BC

Learn to safely treat facial redness, rosacea, spider veins, and cherry angiomas with long-pulse Nd:YAG 1064nm and IPL on real clients.

Treating What Clients See in the Mirror Every Day

Visible blood vessels are a constant source of self-consciousness. Tiny red threads across the cheeks and nose, the persistent flush of rosacea, blue-purple spider veins on the legs, and bright cherry angiomas all send clients searching for help. Vascular laser treatment is one of the most satisfying services in aesthetics because results are often visible quickly. Our Vascular and Spider Vein Laser Course trains you to deliver those results safely and predictably at our Coquitlam campus.

How Vascular Lasers Work

Vascular lasers target hemoglobin, the pigment in red blood cells. When the laser energy is absorbed, it heats and collapses the unwanted vessel while sparing the surrounding skin. The art lies in choosing the right wavelength, pulse duration, and fluence for the size and depth of each vessel, and you will practise this on a wide range of presentations.

The course centres on two complementary technologies:

  • Long-pulse Nd:YAG at 1064nm: the deeper-penetrating workhorse for leg spider veins, larger facial vessels, and treatments on darker skin tones where surface-absorbing devices are riskier
  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): excellent for diffuse facial redness, rosacea, and fine superficial telangiectasia

You will go deeper into each platform through our Nd:YAG technician course and our IPL and diode course, both of which complement this vascular training.

The Conditions You Will Learn to Treat

  • Facial telangiectasia: the fine red capillaries common around the nose and cheeks
  • Rosacea-related redness and flushing
  • Leg spider veins: smaller superficial veins suited to laser rather than surgical intervention
  • Cherry angiomas: the small bright-red papules many clients want removed
  • Other minor vascular lesions and diffuse redness

For each, you will learn to identify the lesion, judge whether laser is appropriate, select settings, and set realistic expectations about the number of sessions required.

Consultation, Safety, and Contraindications

Vascular work demands careful screening, and a large part of this course is devoted to consultation and safety. You will learn to take a relevant medical history, recognize contraindications such as photosensitizing medications, recent sun exposure, pregnancy, and certain clotting or vascular conditions, and know when to refer a client for medical assessment instead of treating. You will also master Fitzpatrick skin-type evaluation, because the same redness on different skin tones calls for different settings; this is precisely why the 1064nm Nd:YAG is often the safer choice for darker complexions in our diverse Metro Vancouver community. Eye protection, cooling, post-care, and complication management are all covered in detail.

Hands-On Training With an Expert Instructor

This is practical, in-person training. At our Coquitlam campus you treat real clients, not mannequins or video simulations, under the direct supervision of Manucher Nick. He is certified through the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) and brings more than 13 years of experience as a dermatologist assistant and cosmetic laser specialist. With small class sizes, you get genuine time on the device and immediate, personalized feedback. If you want to broaden your scope further, vascular skills pair naturally with the Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology program.

Frequently Asked Questions

What laser is best for spider veins and facial redness?
Long-pulse Nd:YAG at 1064nm is the deeper-penetrating choice for leg spider veins, larger facial vessels, and darker skin tones, while IPL excels at diffuse redness and rosacea. Skilled practitioners match the device to the lesion. In our Coquitlam vascular course you train hands-on with both technologies under a NACC-certified instructor.
Can laser treat rosacea redness?
Yes. Vascular lasers and IPL target the hemoglobin in dilated vessels, reducing the persistent flush and visible capillaries of rosacea. Results usually build over a series of sessions, and good consultation is essential. Our Coquitlam course teaches you to assess rosacea, choose settings, screen for contraindications, and set realistic client expectations.
How much does the vascular laser course cost in BC?
Individual laser courses at BC Medical Aesthetic are typically $1,650, which is $1,500 tuition plus $150 in fees. We offer StudentAid BC for eligible programs and in-house payment plans to make the cost manageable. Call 604-468-1202 or visit our Coquitlam financing page to discuss the best option for you.
Is vascular laser safe on darker skin tones?
It can be, with the right device and settings. Surface-absorbing lasers and IPL are riskier on darker skin, so the longer 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength is often preferred because it penetrates deeper while sparing surface pigment. Our Coquitlam course teaches Fitzpatrick assessment and conservative parameters so you treat all skin tones safely.
Do I need a license to perform vascular laser treatments in BC?
British Columbia has no specific provincial license for cosmetic laser. However, employers and liability insurers require formal training from a recognized institution before you can work or be insured. Certification from BC Medical Aesthetic in Coquitlam, earned through hands-on training on real clients, gives you exactly the credential they expect.
Will I practise on real clients?
Yes. All hands-on training happens at our Coquitlam campus, and you treat real clients rather than mannequins or online demonstrations. Small class sizes ensure plenty of supervised time at the device with instructor Manucher Nick, who has more than 13 years of clinical experience treating vascular lesions and redness.
When can I start the vascular laser course?
We use rolling monthly intakes instead of fixed calendar start dates, so you can usually begin shortly after completing your student registration. To confirm the next available start near Metro Vancouver, book a consultation online or call our Coquitlam campus at 604-468-1202 and we will walk you through availability and financing.
